BRISTOL, Tenn.--The Adrian College women's wrestling team opened 2018 by placing four student-athletes in the nine weight classes at the King University Tornado Open over the weekend.

Freshman Marguerite Elliott led the way for the Bulldogs with the 155 championship. She dominated her opponents with three victories--against no losses--via the pin. She began the day with a victory in 1 minute and 53 seconds over Daniela Figueroa from the Lion Wrestling Club. Elliott followed that up by making quick work of Emmanuel (Ga.) College's Krista Martin in 24 seconds. In the first-place bout, she defeated Tayler Kleemoff out of Ferrum College in 1:58.

Senior Kassidy Block took third place at 123 after a convincing 11-2 decision over Kleemoff's teammate, Autumn Potkay. Block lost her opening match in a technical fall, but she came back with a vengeance by winning her next event with a technical fall of her own and then recorded a 53-second pinfall.

Junior Haylee McCoy also earned a third-place in the busy 191 division that featured five rounds. McCoy posted a 2-2 record, which included a 4:28 pin.

Like teammates Block and McCoy, freshman Holly Bailor had a third-place showing at 101.

Adrian is back in action on Saturday at the McKendree University Open in Lebanon, Ill. The event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Eastern.
