Bulldogs Blank Lions in MIAA Preview Tournament

HOLLAND, Mich. – The Adrian College women's volleyball team took down Finlandia in straight sets in game three of the MIAA Preview Tournament.


Final Score: Adrian 3, Finlandia 0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-13)

Location: Holland, Mich. (DeVos Fieldhouse)

Records: Adrian 2-4 (0-0 MIAA), Finlandia 0-7 (0-0 ACAA)


Adrian fell behind early in the first set, but battled back to earn 11 of 14 points in a row to take the lead. The Bulldogs held on to that lead and took the first set, 25-22.

The Black and Gold game out hot in the second set and didn't look back, leading 22-8 at one point in the set. Each team picked up three more points as the Bulldogs took set two 25-11.

The third set was more of what was seen in the second, with Adrian being in the driver's seat the whole way. Only trailing by one early, the Bulldogs won nine out of ten points late in the set to win the set 25-13, and the match 3-0.


• Senior Olivia Welch led the Bulldogs in kills with 11 and also provided 11 digs.

• Sophomore Liz Susitko provided most of the assists for Adrian, leading the team with 15 and providing 12 digs as well.

• Sophomore Karlee Techentin led Adrian in digs, with 18, and service aces, with four.


• Karisa Holmstrom led Finlandia's offense with six kills.

• Nicole Anderson led the Lions in assists with 18.

• Finlandia's defense was led by Jessie Diaz, with 26 digs.


The Bulldogs will wrap-up the MIAA Preview Tournament later today with Kalamazoo.
