ADRIAN, Mich.--Calvin College won all six singles matches to turn a close match after the doubles into an 8-1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis victory over host Adrian College on Tuesday in the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.

The Knights improve to 11-5 on the season and 4-1 in the MIAA, while Adrian slips to 3-13 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The Adrian No. 3 doubles sophomore team of Makayla Jorgensen/Julia Maltbie def. Alexis Bonner/Brittney Statema 9-8 (7-3) to cut Calvin's lead to 2-1 going into singles.

Leah Newhof led the Knights with No. 1 wins in singles (6-1, 6-3) and doubles with Madeline Brouwer (8-4). Brouwer was one of four Knights with two victories as she claimed her No. 2 singles encounter (6-1, 6-2).

The teams were supposed to play outdoors at Adrian's Craft Tennis Complex, but officials moved the contest indoors due to cold temperatures and wind.

The Bulldogs will have their road finale on Saturday at Olivet College, beginning at 1 p.m.
