BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The women's tennis team started MIAA action on Sunday and defeated Olivet College 6-3 to improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 on the road. The Comets took a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion and then the Bulldogs took over in singles winning five of the six matches.
Renae Adams Almasy and Victoria Watson need a tiebreak but prevailed 9-8 (8-6) at two doubles over Haley Powers and BreAnne Rudlaff. Kylee Bezeau and Justine Hanson fell 8-4 at three doubles. Morgan Spencer and Arielle Williams also fell 8-5 at one doubles.
Four of the five singles wins for the Bulldogs were in straight sets. Bezeau and Rudlaff battled at four singles before Bezeau won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Williams, Hanson and McKenzie Krieg all had rather easy matches. Williams won 6-4, 6-0 at one singles. Hanson won 6-1, 6-1 at five singles. Krieg won 6-3, 6-2 at six singles. Spencer had a battle in set one winning 7-5 at three singles before winning the second set 6-2.
