Women’s Tennis Gets First Win

ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's tennis team (1-1) got its first win of the season by beating Defiance College, 8-1, Thursday afternoon. "It's great to get our first team victory of the year," said head coach Adam Albertsen.

In singles play; Arielle Williams won at No. 1, 6-3, 6-0; Morgan Spencer won at No.2, 6-3, 6-0; Jordenne Ferenczi won at No.3, 6-1, 6-0; Justine Hanson won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2; and Morgan Khem won by default. Jordyn Grant dropped the lone singles match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-10.

In doubles play; Williams and Spencer rallied from behind to win at No. 1, 8-5; Ferenczi and Karen Kienitz won at No. 2, 8-1; and Hanson and Khem won by default.

"Jordenne (Ferenczi) showed her senior leadership with big wins in both singles and doubles. The fight she brings to each and every match is extremely valuable to our team," commented Albertsen.

The team's next match will be at Bluffton, Tuesday, September 18 at 3:30 pm.
