HOW IT HAPPENED
After a slow opening 20 minutes, Adrian College found its way onto the board after a perfectly executed passing series inside the box. Senior Caroline Fleming benefitted, finding the ball on her feet and facing a mostly open goal. Her first shot was blocked down by a defender, giving her a second opportunity, which she used to tally the game-winning goal unassisted.
The Bulldogs would carry the 1-0 lead well into the second half, before scoring in the 60th minute. Angela Davis sent a thru-pass to Raquel Church, who in turn nearly placed the ball on the foot of Eve Davis. E. Davis was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, in which she beat with little effort. Church and A. Davis recorded assists on the insurance goal.
AC looked to put the nails in the Wolverines' coffin nine minutes later as McKenna Mahoney put a strong shot on a practically unguarded goal. Mahoney's shot knocked off the post, flying along the goal line before going out of bounds.
The Bulldogs were extremely strong on the offense, owning advantages in shots (31-3), shots on-goal (17-1) and corner kicks (14-2).
Caroline Fleming, with the team's game-winning goal unassisted in the first half. The senior has a team-leading seven goals on the season.
Adrian will hit the road for Capital on Friday, for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup.
