GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Knights (13-2-1, 11-0-1) scored two late goals to put the Bulldogs (3-7-6, 1-7-4) away 4-0 at a rainy Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids, Mich. Calvin kept Adrian goalkeeper Lexi Lewandowski busy all match by tallying 15 shots on goal. Lewandowski was able to save 11 of those shots from going into the net. This is the second time this season that the senior goalkeeper has had double digit saves, both times were against Calvin.
The Bulldogs struggled to get past the back four of Calvin for most of the match, as the Knights would hold the Bulldogs to seven shots, three of which were on goal.
Calvin scored their first two goals in the first 22 minutes of the match. Near the end of the first half the game was delayed for almost an hour due to the weather. Following the delay, the Adrian defense tighetened up, containing the Calvin attack going into halftime. Calvin wouldn't score again until the final 10 minutes of the second half.
The Bulldogs continue their road trip Saturday, October 24 to Kalamazoo where they will face the Hornets in MIAA action at 2:30 p.m. This will be the second of four straight on the road for Adrian.
