ALMA, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 match at Alma College on Saturday (Sept. 27) as the Scots scored the final four goals en route to the victory over the visiting Bulldogs.
Adrian (4-5-1, 3-4 MIAA) and Alma (6-3, 4-2 MIAA) entered the game tied in the MIAA standings and with the win Alma vaults to second place. Adrian is now tied for fourth with Calvin.
Senior Aly Masciovecchio gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at the 27:27 mark off a free kick to the top left corner from 32 yards. Alma tied the match at 43:35 as Amanda Mladenovski scored her first of the season.
The Scots scored three goals in a span of 10-plus minutes in the second half to secure the win. Jessica Burg, Agatha Weddle and Bryn Kittle scored for the Scots with Kailey Vlug credited with an assist on Weddle's goal.
Junior Lexi Lewandowski made 11 saves in net for the Bulldogs and junior Taylor Royce played the final six minutes in goal. Adrian had five shots on goal (12 total) led by sophomore Sofia Farah with two.
"We knew we were entering a challenging stretch of games and we need to focus on the positives," said head coach Ali Alamdari. "We went into halftime tied, generated a great amount of offense in the second half, and unfortunately the score doesn't reflect that. This young team is improving every day, and we know results will come."
