ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College women's soccer team ran into a much-improved Trine University squad on Tuesday (Sept. 16) afternoon and came away with a 1-0 win on the road over the Thunder. The Bulldogs improved to 4-2-1 overall and just as important upped their MIAA record to 3-1.
The contest was tight throughout as the Thunder totaled seven shots on goal which were stopped by Lexi Lewandowski who picked up her first shutout of the season. Skyler Reed played well in net for the Thunder as she made five saves including four in the second half.
Sophomore Carlin O'Malley scored the match's lone goal at 14:20 for her second tally of the season. Senior Aly Masciovecchio recorded her first assist of the season as she played a long cross into the box where O'Malley finished it.
"Skyler Reed had a great game in goal for Trine; it kept us on our toes instead of being able to put the second goal in and coast," commented head coach Ali Alamdari. "I can certainly see why they've knocked off a couple big names, and it's just another illustration of how well this entire league is playing. There are truly no easy matches in the MIAA this year."
