ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's soccer team concluded the regular season on Saturday with a 3-2 double overtime loss to visiting Saint Mary's College at Docking Stadium. The team honored the 2013 seniors at halftime as Sam Barker, Haley Smith, Alanna Chambry and Abby Doebel played in their final home match.
Barker was the team's offense on this cold day as she netted a pair of penalty kicks. Her first one came at 26:48 for her 14th goal of the season. The second one came at 78:47 for her team-leading 15th goal and sent the match into extra time. Adrian trailed by a goal in both instances with the first try coming off a hand ball and the second on a takedown in the box.
The Belles completed the season sweep of the Bulldogs and finished their season at 9-7-3, 7-5-3 MIAA. Adrian now will prepare for the MIAA Tournament where they will be the fourth seed and face an opponent to be determined.
Emily Rompola gave Saint Mary's a 1-0 lead at 5:37 on a long blast straight on from 30 yards out to the top right corner with an assist from Maggie McLaughlin. After the teams were tied at halftime, the Belles got another lead at 2-1 as Rosie Biehl scored her sixth of the season unassisted at 70:01 on a chip shot over keeper from 27 yards out to the top left corner.
The teams battled into a second overtime and Erin Mishu ended things on a rebound goal right in front of the goal line at 106:05. Mishu's second goal of the season came after Mollie Valencia kicked a ball with some steam and Taylor Royce had it bounce off her hands to the foot of Mishu into the lower right corner. AC ends the regular season at 12-7 overall, 10-6 MIAA.
