HOLLAND, Mich. – If tying is like kissing your sister, then the Adrian College women's soccer team has been puckering up a lot this season. The Bulldogs tied for a school-record fourth time this season (9-2-4, 6-2-4) and earned one point in the MIAA standings with a 0-0 double OT tie against Hope College.
110 minutes could not decide things in this one as rain and poor weather limited scoring chances most of the match. Adrian finished the match with six shots on net while Hope registered five shots on goal. Adrian attempted 17 shots compared to 20 for the Flying Dutch.
Erin Weide was the offensive weapon all day for Adrian with nine shots including three shots on net. Courtney Pomeroy, Katie Caruso and Katt Sutherland each recorded one shot on goal for the Bulldogs. Chayna Wallace made five saves during the contest in net for AC.
Adrian had a few chances to pick up three points in the first overtime as Abby Doebel and Weide shot wide in the first 3:48 of the extra session. In the final minute of the first overtime, Weide had a shot blocked and Sutherland ripped a shot high.
Lindsay Jipping took a shot wide right in the second overtime for Hope for their only shot attempt. Weide had another shot blocked and Pomeroy went wide left in the final 10 minutes. Adrian currently stands sixth in the conference with 21 points but is just two points out of the final spot for the MIAA Tournament with four matches remaining. Adrian hosts Trine and Calvin and plays Albion and Olivet on the road in the coming weeks.
