COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sophomore forward Erin Weide (Madison Heights, Mich./Bishop Foley HS) notched a hat trick and also added an assist in the women's soccer team's first game of the Fort Rapids Invitational hosted by Capital University.

Adrian (2-0) peppered Salem goalkeeper Jessi Carter all game with 10 shots on goal and 22 total shots. Carter did make five saves but allowed five goals. The Bulldogs built a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Weide scored at 38:46 as her shot hit the crossbar and far post before just crossing the goal line. Weide scored her second goal of the match just 1:13 later as she shot from the left side of Carter.

Senior forward Courtney Pomeroy (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lake Shore HS) got Adrian on the board in the second half at 49:53 with an assist from Weide. She took a pass across the goal box and nailed it past Carter to put the match out of reach for Salem. Weide completed her first career hat trick at 63:14 and junior midfielder Haley Smith (St. Joseph, Mich./Stevensville Lakeshore HS) finished the scoring at 70:50 as she took a pass from sophomore forward Carmina Lizyness (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park HS) and fired a rocket into the upper left corner from 20 yards out.

Senior Chayna Wallace (Bedford, Mich./Bedford HS) made two saves in 63:14 and after Adrian built a 4-0 lead was replaced by freshman Taylor Royce (Coopersville, Mich./Coopersville HS) who finished the game and made one save.

"Our top priority today was establishing a high level of play for 90 minutes, no matter what the opponent had to offer or who was on the field for us," commented head coach Ali Alamdari. "We saw great performances all over the field from the start of the game to the end. Now we have to translate that into strong play on Sunday against a Capital team that had a nice run in the NCAA tournament last year."
