ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team will compete in its first MIAA Tournament Championship game on Saturday (Nov. 5), following a 3-1 defeat over Hope College in the Semifinals today November 3 on the field of Performance Stadium.

All three of Adrian's goals came off the foot of sophomore Sam Barker, marking her third-career hat trick and first of the season. To add to her accolades, Barker now has 101 career points, surpassing Lindsay Chitwood (98 points, 2006-09) for first all-time.

Barker's first goal came in the 10 minute mark after she received a nice cross from junior Lauren Cozzi who created some room between the Hope's defense. Barker scored once more before halftime (31:10) off a penalty kick.

Picking up where she left off, Barker earned a hat trick with a goal at the 54th minute mark off a deflection from Hope's goalie. Barker made a nice move initially to get past Hope's defense and showed nice awareness to capitalize off the deflection.

Hope's Nora Kirk scored late (80:03) with Maria DeShaw picking up the assist.

Following Barker's game-high four shots on goal, three other Adrian players recorded a shot on goal including freshmen Ellery Karsten and Carmina Lizyness and junior Patti Vaasseen.

In the net for the Bulldogs, junior Chayna Wallace garnered six saves in 82 minutes of play.

Adrian outshot the Flying Dutch 13-11.

Adrian (17-4) will host Alma (17-3-1) in the MIAA Tournament Championship on Saturday, November 5 at 12:00 p.m.
