FREELAND, Mich. – Adrian College women's lacrosse senior Annie Rice was named the Offensive Player of the Week for last week by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) on Monday, March 25.
Rice led the team with 16 points in two games last week, with eight points in both games. Against Hiram on Tuesday, she scored twice and assisted on six goals to help the Bulldogs to a 15-4 win. On Sunday she scored five times including the game tying goal from the free position with 53 seconds left in AC's 14-13 overtime-thriller win at Augustana.
Overall, Rice leads the Black and Gold in points and assists, with 33 points and 18 assists. Her 18 assists are as many as the next player on the team has points. She's also second on the team in goals, with 15 total tallies so far this year. This is Rice's second Player of the Week award from the MIAA this year and third in her career.
The Bulldogs are back in action with two games this week and start conference play this Wednesday, March 27 when they travel up to Alma for a 7 p.m. game. Following the match with Alma the team returns home to host Calvin in MIAA action on Saturday, March 30 at 5:30 p.m.
