FREELAND, Mich. - Freshman Emily Smith was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's lacrosse offensive player of the week as announced by the league office today.
The Tinley Park, Illinois native scored five goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs to a 17-3 win over Elmhurst to give the team its first win of the season. She also hauled in four ground balls and caused two turnovers in the game.
As a freshman, Smith is leading Adrian in points for the season with 17 (15 goals, 2 assists). She is scoring on 60% of her shots (25) this season.
This is the first MIAA player of the week award for Adrian women's lacrosse this season and the first of Smith's career.
