Bulldogs Keep it Close But Fall to Birmingham Southern

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team kept it close but fell 15-12 to Birmingham Southern in the second game of the season.

 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Adrian 12, Birmingham Southern 15 – FINAL

Location: Sewanee, Tennessee (Puett Field)

Records: Adrian (0-2), Birmingham Southern (3-1)

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Birmingham Southern jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first half before the Bulldogs scored four straight goals to make the score 7-4 going into halftime

• Adrian would score five of the first six goals in the second half to take an 9-8 lead

• The Panthers would score the next four goals to retake the lead and would never relinquish it

Alex Branum led Adrian with four goals and six groundballs and two caused turnovers

Annika Nuler contributed three goals and one groundball in the losing effort

 

THE OPPOSITION

• Hannah Hudson and Amanda Amerson each scored three goals

• Brianna Studer, Alyssa Gentyzel and Ashely Shepherd all scored two goals

• Gentyzel, Natalie Daniel and Annie Scierka led the team with four groundballs

 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

• This was the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Panthers

• The 15 goals scored is the most scored by Birmingham Southern this season

• This is the second straight season Adrian has started 0-2
