ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs faced Olivet College Wednesday evening as they looked to climb back into the MIAA playoff hunt. Adrian would score first, but the Comets responded with four of the next five goals in the game to take a 4-2 lead. The Bulldogs were not able to secure the lead again as Olivet dropped Adrian, 16-9, and the Bulldogs now stand at 0-8 overall with a 0-4 mark in the MIAA.
Alex Branum gave Adrian the 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game on her seventh from Michelle Sandlin. Adrian would carry this lead until the 23:02 mark as Olivet scored to tie the game and spark a run that allowed them to carry a 8-4 lead at the break. Branum would tally her second of the game at the 20:08 mark while Sandlin and Sofia Farah each recorded a goal to fuel the Bulldog attack.
The Bulldogs would start the second half slow as they allowed a Comet goal less than 10 seconds into the half. Sandlin would help rally Adrian as she tallied two goals for the half with her second coming from Branum. Mariesa Johnson scored on a free position shot and Annika Nuler recorded two goals as Adrian scored five in the second half. The Comets would answer the Bulldogs with eight more goals to take the game, 16-9, despite Adrian goalkeeper Alison Dungey recording 13 saves and adding five ground balls.
The Bulldogs will see action again on April 18 when they travel to take on Trine University at 1 p.m.
