ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian midfielder Brianna Plester and Adrian goalkeeper Jul Tehovnik its Players of the Week in women's lacrosse for games played through May 3.
Plester, a freshman from Orangeville, Ontario, Canada (Orangeville Secondary), scored 12 goals, added three assists and scooped up seven ground balls in leading the Bulldogs to the MIAA tournament championship. She had six goals, two assists and three ground balls in a 22-10 semifinal win over Albion, then scored six goals and added an assist and four ground balls as Adrian defeated Alma, 16-7, in the tournament championship game. Plester is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Tehovnik, a senior from Sewickley, Pa. (Sewickley Academy), made 12 saves in net for the Bulldogs during the MIAA tournament. She had five saves and three ground balls in Adrian's 22-10 semifinal win over Albion, then turned away seven shots in the championship game as the Bulldogs defeated Alma, 16-7. Tehovnik is being honored as Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and for the second time in her career.
