Five Early goals leads Adrian to close comeback

ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's lacrosse team (6-2) had their three-game winning streak snapped by undefeated Denison (5-0) in a game that went right to the wire.

Although Adrian was not able to take the lead in the first half, about six minutes into the second half Adrian climbed back and went up, 10-9, before Maddie Dugan would score her second of the game and  Adrian's last goal with under four minutes to play to get the Bulldogs within a goal again at 14-13. That's how it would end with the Bulldogs unable to gain possession late in a final attempt for a tie or win.

Hannah Early led the Bulldogs with five goals- including the marker that would give Adrian its first lead. She would get her fifth of the night and 18th of the season late with an extra-attacker to pull the Bulldogs within one goal at 13-12.

Each team had 24 shots on net, with Adrian's Maddie McDonald finishing with 10 saves for the night.

Stacey Birlson finished with a six-point night with two goals, while Olivia Duncan registered four points and three goals.

Rounding out the scoring for Adrian was Heather Newblom, who scored her 14th of the year and started the rally by tying the game at 8-8 early in the second half. It was the first tie since the opening eight minutes as the Bulldogs had played catch-up from there.

Adrian will travel next to Keuka on Friday March 29th for a 4 p.m. game.
