ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's lacrosse team advanced to the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament Final with a convincing 19-5 win on Friday afternoon over visiting Mt. St. Joseph. The top-seeded Bulldogs built a 11-4 edge at halftime and put its game on cruise control in the second half outscoring the Lions 8-1 over the final 30 minutes.
Adrian took 32 shots compared to 15 for the Lions. AC also forced 20 turnovers by Mt. St. Joseph in the contest. Adrian went 1-for-1 in extra-man chances and won 16 of 26 draw controls.
Stacey Birlson tallied a pair of goals and a team-best three assists on the day. Lindsey Day added two goals on four shots on net. Olivia Duncan and Amanda Lambert each led the team with six points. Duncan had four goals and two assists while Lambert also had four goals and two assists. Cassie Hoyez also chipped in three goals and had five ground balls and five draws.
Laura Finfrock and Jul Tehovnik each played 30 minutes in net for the Bulldogs. Finfrock stopped two shots and allowed four goals. Tehovnik made three saves and allowed one goal in the second half she played.
