GRANVILLE, Ohio - The experienced senior class for Adrian College paid dividends on Friday, Mar. 9 as the Bulldogs handed Denison their first loss of the season with an 11-9 road win. Both teams are now 3-1 overall this season.
Amanda Lambert and Rachel Johnston have combined to become the highest scoring duo in school history and that combo continued to lead the offense. Lambert led the team with three goals and an assist, while Johnston tallied two goals and two assists.
Denison had the upper hand with a 29-18 advantage in shots. Adrian had eight shots in the first half and 10 more in the second half. Denison also had a 15-14 edge in ground balls. Adrian was successful on 14-of-22 clears.
Laura Finfrock earned the win in net making 14 saves in the contest. She is now 1-1 on the season for the Bulldogs. Stacey Birlson, Lindsey Day, Olivia Duncan, Meghan Reynolds, Cassie Hoyez and Hannah Early also scored one goal for the Bulldogs.
Both teams played to a 5-5 tie at intermission. The Bulldogs scored three straight goals early in the second half to take an 8-6 lead with 22:21 left in the game. Denison cut the lead to 9-8 with 9:51 remaining, but Adrian notched the next two goals from Day and Reynolds and increased their lead to 11-8 with just 1:44 to go. Denison scored with 1:09 to play to cut the lead to 11-9 but could not get any closer.
