HOW IT HAPPENED

After the first period of play the game was knotted at zero, despite the Bulldogs' scoring opportunity at 14:42. Nicole Guagliardo sent a strong shot on-goal, stopped at the post after a 2-on-1.

Trine opened the second period with a strong opportunity of its own, on an unlikely odd-man rush, disrupted by a diving Denisa Jandova, who came out of her goal to aid the defense.

The Bulldogs were finally able to make the board in the 12th minute of the second period, as Neysa Miller was able to clean up on her own rebound for an unassisted tally.

AC extended its lead to two as Jessica Anderson found the back of the net with a shot from the blue line. Anderson was helped along by Kaleigh Cadorette who found her with a cross ice pass from the right faceoff circle.

The Thunder were able to bring the game within one, as they scored with 1:52 remaining in the second period, breaking Adrian's 25 unanswered goal streak.

Adrian looked to open another two goal lead just two minutes in the final stanza, as Abbie Grias' breakaway shot rang off the post. At the same time, Trine was looking to make it a game, finding itself on a 2-on-1 with Jandova, who was able to make a shoulder save at 8:05 and save the fans from an overtime.

Both teams called a timeout in the second half of period three, with Adrian's coming with just over seven minutes remaining on the clock and Trine's with 1:12.

Following the faceoff coming out of the timeout, the Thunder pulled their goalie and the Bulldogs capitalized as Guagliardo caused a turnover in Trine's zone and put it in the goal unassisted with 51 seconds remaining in the contest.

In goal Janodva made 18 saves, appearing in all 60 minutes for Adrian.

AC again led the shot and faceoff battle, with numbers of 51-18 and 54-18, respectively.
