O'Sullivan Breaks School Record in Weekend Sweep of Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The No. 2 Adrian College women's ice hockey team completed its weekend sweep of NCHA competitor Marian (Wis.), blanking the Sabres on Saturday. In the contest captain Kelly O'Sullivan broke the program record for most points by a defenseman, now at 96.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first period saw five goals, with three coming in the opening seven minutes. Nicole Guagliardo began the scoring at 6:18 on the power play, helped along Kelly O'Sullivan and Une Bjelland, proving to be the game-winner. 

It took just 30 seconds before classmate Jacqueline White added the insurance tally, with Rylee Bates collecting the solo assists. Tallying the third goal of the flurry was Brianna Buchanan, who was helped by Sydney Daversa at 7:15.

Bates and Bjelland each collected goals, with the latter's being power play goal to end the scoring for the period. O'Sullivan had two assists in the scoring series, while Guagliardo had one.

Buchanan, the captain, opened the second period scoring at 7:27, as she was able to convert after a series between Bjelland and O'Sullivan. 

Maggie Mitter penned her name to the stat sheet with her pair of goals to close out the second half and and then to end the contest. White recorded assists on both goals, while Kaliegh Cadorette and Abbie Grias.

In goal, sophomore Denisa Jandova played the entirety of the contests, making 23 saves. 

The Bulldogs dominated the stat sheet, owning the shot count 48-23, while going 2-for-5 on the power play.

  • Senior Nicole Guagliardo posted the game-winner, while also tallying and assist.

  • Three time All-American Kelly O'Sullivan broke the program's record for most points by a defenseman (96) with her team-leading three assists.

  • The duo of Jacqueline White and Une Bjelland both had three points on one goal and two assists.
