Gloucester, Mass. - The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) recently announced its 2018-19 All-American Scholar selections. Adrian College had six members of its women's hockey team named to the squad.
To be named a "Krampade All-American Scholar", a varsity ice hockey player must attain a 3.6 grade-point-average (GPA) and have participated in 40 percent of their school's contests during the 2018-19 season, with exceptions to a small number of athletes chosen who do not fulfill the participation requirement based on injury or backup goaltender status. Division II-III had 936 men and women awarded this honor.
A rising-senior, Anna Sheperd has been named an All-American Scholar since the honors inception in the 2016-17 season. She is the only Bulldog to have done so.
Tory Harshman along with Brianna Buchanan, Maggie Mitter and Neysa Miller have garnered this honor for the second-consecutive season. All of the upperclassman were named to the NCHA All-Academic squad released earlier in the year. The lone freshman to make the list was Denisa Jandova.
Shepherd appeared in 28 of the Bulldogs 31 contests, posting for points and a plus/minus ranking of +10. Harshman, the former captain, saw action in all 31 contests, led the squad in points (33) and the plus/minus category (+30). She was second on the team in goals (14) and assists (19). Also appearing in all 31 contests for AC was Buchanan, Mitter and Miller. Jandova appeared in 16 in her first season as a Bulldog, starting in 14.
