Women's Hockey Continues Winning Streak, Beating St. Scholastica 5-3

DULUTH, Minn. – The Adrian College women's hockey team continued its winning streak on Friday, Nov. 16 by beating St. Scholastica on the road, 5-3.

Records: Adrian 6-1 (5-0 NCHA), St. Scholastica 5-1-1 (4-1 NCHA)


Adrian got on the board first, scoring the first goal of the game with just over nine minutes remaining in the first period. Sophomore forward Sydney Daversa received the puck from freshman forward Annalise Andrews and put the puck past the goalkeeper to open the scoring. St. Scholastica would answer with a goal just three minutes later to knot the game at one.

The Bulldogs were able to get another one in the first to take the lead heading into intermission when senior captain Tory Harshman scored on the power play with 1:07 remaining. Junior defenseman Kelly O'Sullivan and freshman defenseman Julia Barrett picked up the helpers on the power play goal.

Adrian would double its lead eight minutes into the second period when freshman forward Kenzie D'Ascenzo scored to make it 3-1. Senior forward Kortney Diaz hit senior forward Hannah Dalrymple with the pass who found D'Ascenzo for the goal. AC scored again just under three minutes later when Barrett scored a goal of her own with just over nine minutes remaining in the middle frame. Harshman and junior forward Jacquelin White picked up assists on the goal. The Saints wouldn't end the period without an answer for Adrian's two goals, and got two of their own, including a shorthanded tally, in less than a minute to bring the game back to a one-goal contest.

The third period was more of a defensive battle, with neither team able to score until junior forward Maggie Mitter scored on an empty net with 37 seconds left to ice the game for the Black and Gold. Junior forward Brianna Buchanan picked up an assist on the insurance goal.


• Daversa, Harshman, D'Ascenzo, Barrett, and Mitter all scored for the Bulldogs.

• Andrews, O'Sullivan, Barrett, Dalrymple, Diaz, Harshman, White, and Buchanan tallied assists.

• Sophomore goaltender Kate Turner made 14 saves in the win.


• Alexia Klass and Greta Nundahl scored for St. Scholastica, with Klass scoring twice.

• Rachel Anderson, Taylor Thompson, Kayla Kasel, and Giorgia Battisti picked up assists for the Saints.

• Lexi Thomeczek made 18 saves in the loss.


The Bulldogs wrap-up the series with the Saints tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 17 in Duluth, Minn. At 5 p.m. ET.
