Kristi Zink Scores in Final Two Minutes of Third Period to Give Bulldogs the 1-0 Win

FOND DU LAC, WIS. - The Adrian College women's hockey team was able to finish the season with a 1-0 win over Marian. Kristi Zink scored the game-winning goal in the final two minutes of the third period.


Final Score: Adrian 1, Marian 0

Location: Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin

Records: Adrian (19-5-1, 16-1-1 NCHA), Marian (7-18-0, 6-12-0 NCHA)


Adrian outshot the Sabres 12-2 in the first period but was unable to get the puck past Marian goalie Lindsey Strainis.

The Bulldogs added 14 shots on goal in the second period while holding the Sabres to only four shots. The game remained scoreless throughout the second period.

Zink tallied the game-winning goal with 1:59 left in the third period to propel Adrian to the win. Tory Harshman and Brooke Schembri assisted on the goal. 

The Bulldogs finished the game with a 39-12 advantage in shots. Adrian was 1-for-5 on the power play while the Sabres were 0-for-3.


Kate Turner (W, 18-5-1) saved all 12 shots she faced. 


• Strainis made 38 saves in the losing effort.


Adrian will host the first round of the Slaats Cup Playoff next week. The Bulldogs opponent will be either CUW or St. Norbert depending on how the rest of Saturday's games finish.
