NCHA Preseason Favorite Bulldogs Kick Off Season With Black & Gold Game on Friday

DULUTH, Minn. - The Adrian College NCAA Division III women's hockey team was chosen to repeat as the top squad in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) for this season as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will kick off the season with a Black vs. Gold game on Friday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m., ET. The Bulldogs return 15 members from last season's NCAA DIII runner-up squad and will add 13 new faces.

Top Returners

Brooke Lupi - Junior - Forward - Dexter, Mich. - Leads all returners with a season point total of 43 (21g, 22a) from the 2016-17 campaign. She was named to the USCHO.com third team as well as to the NCHA All-Tournament Team.

Kelly O'Sullivan - Sophomore - Defense - Inverness, Ill. - Finished last season with 37 points (11g, 26a) which led all freshman defenders in NCAA Division III and was the third-most among all blueliners nationally. O'Sullivan was the NCHA and USCHO.com Rookie of the Year and was named an All-American by the AHCA/CCM (first team) and USCHO.com (second team).

Kristi Zink - Senior - Defense - Canton, Mich. - Tallied the third-most points last year among returners with 20 (2g, 18a). She finished 19th nationally in points per game among defensemen and has served as the team's assistant captain for the past two seasons.

Top Newcomers

Tory Harshman - Junior - Forward - Owen Sound, Ontario - Played in 28 games last year at NCAA DI Robert Morris (Pa.).

Jaqueline White - Sophomore - Forward - Royal Oak, Mich. - Was the third-leading scorer overall her freshman year at Oswego State. Totaled 28 points (15g, 13a) to finish 29th nationally in points per game (1.08)--fifth among freshmen. She was 24th in goals per game (0.58) and T-54th in assists per game (0.50).

Savannah Veri - Freshman - Forward - Northville, Mich. - Played for the Honeybaked Hockey Club during her time in the juniors.

NCHA Preseason Poll

The Bulldogs received 78 points and six of the 10 first-place votes to top the NCHA Preseason Coaches' Poll. Adrian finished last season with an 18-0-0 record in conference play to become the first team to finish the regular season unbeaten and untied in league play.

2017-18 Season

The Bulldogs will kick off the regular season on Friday, October 27 against Stevenson on the first day of the two-day Bulldog Bowl at Arrington Ice Arena. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., ET.
