Two More NCAA Women's Hockey Players Going Pro

ADRIAN, Mich. - Brooke Gibson and Sydney Smith added their names to the list of former Adrian College hockey players in the pros.

Gibson was drafted with the second pick in the 12th round of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) by the Toronto Furies. She finished her Adrian College career with the third-most wins in program history with 34. She was second in career goals against average (1.60), fourth in save percentage (.921), fifth in career saves (709), and fifth in shutouts (8).

Smith was offered a roster spot on the KSV Neuberg Highlanders in Austria that competes in the Elite Women's Hockey League (EWHL). The Sarnia, Ontario native submitted video of her college career and was selected out of a large group of former collegiate players. She finished her college career as the program's leading scorer among defensemen with 94 points (25+69) and tops the career record charts in plus/minus with a +119. She was also among the leaders in career assists (3rd, 69), power-play goals (T-6th, 14), and shots on goal (4th, 390).

Gibson and Smith are the third and fourth players from last season's NCAA women's hockey team to go pro and they join Kristin Lewicki, Kaylyn Schroka, Sarah Shureb, and Hannah McGowan on the list of Adrian Women's NCAA hockey players to participate in the pros.
