Two Power Play Goals Propel Elmira Passed Adrian 3-1 in First Round of NCAA Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's hockey team's season came to an end Saturday night after a 3-1 loss to Elmira in the NCAA DIII Women's Ice Hockey Championship First Round.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Adrian 1, Elmira 3 – FINAL

Location: Adrian, Michigan (Arrington Ice Arena)

Records: Adrian (25-3-1), Elmira (22-4-1)

FIRST PERIOD: SOARING EAGLES UP 1-0

  • Maddie Evangelous scored a power play goal with just over five minutes remaining the first period to take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission

THIRD PERIOD: EMPTY NET GOAL SEALS WIN FOR ELMIRA

  • Sydney Smith scored a power play goal for the Bulldogs that tied the game up at one a piece
  • Katie Granato scored the second power play goal, and game-winning goal, for Elmira less than one minute later to put the Soaring Eagles up 2-1
  • The Bulldogs would pull goaltender Jade Walsh to gain an extra attacker with less than one minute left, however Johanna Eidensten would score an empty net goal for Elmira to seal the victory
