ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian used three third-period goals to earn the victory over NCHA opponent Concordia 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Arrington Ice Arena. Logan Taylor, Kaylyn Schroka and Kristin Lewicki all led the Bulldogs with one goal and one assist for the game.
Adrian jumped out to the 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the first period when Logan Taylor scored an unassisted goal after intercepting a Concordia pass in neutral ice. The Falcons would respond in the bottom half of the period when Lexi Holman would score to even things up at one apiece. The score would remain 1-1 going into the first intermission.
Concordia would take the lead 6:26 into the second period thanks to a goal from Alexis Machuga, the score would stay 2-1 in favor of the Falcons into the second intermission.
The Bulldogs would even things up in the first two minutes of the third period when Adrian captain Kaylyn Schroka scored off the assist from Kristin Lewicki and Lexie Tzafaroglou. Adrian's Brooke Lupi put the puck in the net 13:18 into the third period giving the Bulldogs the 3-2 lead. That goal would turn into the game winner for Adrian. Lewicki would score the insurance goal with a little over five minutes left in the game on a power play.
Adrian was 1-for-6 on the power play for the game and they successfully killed off both of Concordia's power play opportunities. The Bulldogs also dominated in faceoffs 39-20.
The Bulldogs will look to continue their momentum on Friday, November 13 when they host Marian (Wis.). Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
