#6 Bulldogs Victorious Over #2 Elmira 4-1 in Season Opener

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Adrian College women's hockey team beat no. 2 Elmira in their season opening game in Northfield, Vt.

Team Captain Kaylyn Schroka got the Bulldogs started by scoring a power-play goal 12:50 into the first period. She was assisted by Sydney Smith and Kortney Diaz on the goal. Michelle Jones would score the second goal for Adrian 17:44 into the first period to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. She was assisted by teammate Sarah Schureb. That lead would hold into the first intermission.

Adrian's Kristin Lewicki would start the scoring for Adrian 9:04 into the second period off the assist from Kayla Murray putting the score at 3-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. The lead would be extended to four 15 seconds later when Sarah Schureb scored off the assist from Michelle Jones.

Elmira would score their lone goal in the third period on a short-handed goal from Olivia Nystrom to L. Lippiet Durnell cutting the score to 4-1, which would be the final score.

Adrian goaltender Jade Walsh faced 18 shots and made 17 saves. Elmira edged Adrian 33-23 in face offs for the game.

The Bulldogs continue tomorrow when they play either no. 1 Plattsburgh or no. 4 Norwich tomorrow November 1 at 4:00 p.m.
