ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bulldogs met No. 5 Gustavus Adolphus College Friday night in a top ten battle. The Bulldogs came out firing against the Golden Gusties as they outshot Gustavus 32-17 for the game including 10-3 in the first period. Adrian finally broke through the stalemate with just 2:39 left on the clock to take the game, 1-0. This win advances the overall record for Adrian in 2014-15 to 10-0-2.
Adrian stormed out in the first period against the Golden Gusties by firing 10 shots on goal while allowing just three. The Bulldogs kept this momentum throughout the game as they would fire 32 shots on goal while sophomore goaltender Jade Walsh stopped all 17 shots that she faced to earn her third shutout of the season. The Bulldogs thought they broke the scoreless tie with less than 10 minutes left in the game when Sydney Smith fired a shot from the point that found the back of the net, but the goal was waived off due to high sticking. Adrian did not let this deter them from securing their victory in regulation as Logan Taylor secured a rebound to beat the goaltender and put the Bulldogs up, 1-0, with just 2:39 left in the game from Hannah McGowan and Devyn Fitzhenry.
Walsh (10-0-2) earned her fourth career shutout by making 17 saves.
The Bulldogs will see action again Saturday (1/10) when they take on St. Mary's at 3 p.m. ET.
