ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs welcomed Buffalo State to Arrington Ice Arena Friday night for their second matchup of the season with the Bengals. Adrian sailed to a 12-1 when they travelled to Buffalo, N.Y. back on November 10. The Bulldogs once again dominated the Bengals as they cruised to a 6-0 win and improved to 11-3 on the season.
Adrian did not take long to score on the Bengals as Hannah McGowan (7) scored from Courtney Millar and Alix Vallee 4:33 into the game. This 1-0 lead was carried throughout the period until the Bulldogs scored two goals in the final two minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. The first came at the 18:26 mark as Michelle Jones (2) scored from Millar and Vallee. McGowan (8) then capped the first period with her second of the game with 29 seconds remaining from Kelsey Kusch to secure the Adrian lead.
The second period started with Kusch (15) scoring just 15 seconds in from Lauren Turner. Danielle Smith (6) advanced the Bulldog lead to five exactly one minute of gameplay later from McGowan and Vallee. This capped the Adrian scoring for the second period as the Bulldogs fired 16 shots on goal to just 5 from the Bengals.
The third period saw Kusch (16) score her second of the night from Jones and McGowan at the 12:37 mark to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Bulldogs seemingly controlled the puck the entire game as they fired 44 shots on goal. Jade Walsh recorded her first career shutout by stopping all 12 shots she faced and helping kill all six Bengal power plays.
These same two teams will meet again tomorrow, January 11 for a 2 p.m. faceoff at Arrington Ice Arena.
