ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs finished their weekend series with St. Norbert Saturday afternoon in hopes of taking their winning streak to six games. The Bulldogs scored in the first period, and carried this lead to the third period before the Green Knights scored two quick goals to turn the momentum in their favor. The Bulldogs had two late power play chances to tie the game, including a six-on-four advantage by pulling their goalie for the final 40 seconds, but could not even the score and fell 2-1. This loss puts Adrian at 6-2 on the season and 4-2 in the NCHA.
The first period was played evenly with the teams trading shots until the 9:02 mark when Abby Kibler ended the stalemate on an assist from Sydney Smith. This goal was carried on by the Bulldogs for the rest of the first period and all of the second period as Adrian carried a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
The Bulldogs continued with this lead through the first 8:14 of the third period as they looked to ice the game with their second goal. The Green Knights scored two goals in less than one minute of play before Adrian could respond and St. Norbert found themselves on top, 2-1. The Bulldogs fought hard to tie the game after two St. Norbert penalties in the final 3:30 of the game led to power play opportunities , but Adrian could not find the back of the net for the second time and fell to the Green Knights 2-1.
Jade Walsh made the start in the net for the Bulldogs as she made 18 saves and stopped St. Norbert on all six of its power play chances.
The Bulldogs will play next December 6 at league-leader St. Scholastica at 5 p.m.
