NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The Bulldogs took on St. Olaf College Sunday afternoon in their second non-conference game of the season. Adrian was tested in this contest as the two teams traded the lead, and remained tied heading into the final period of action. The Bulldogs posted two third period goals and Adrian advanced to 5-1 on the season.
The first period was handled by the Bulldogs as Kristin Lewicki scored just five minutes into the game on helpers from Lauren Turner and Emily Duncan. Adrian controlled this period by putting 22 shots on goal to just four from St. Olaf.
St. Olaf responded in the second as they came back to take the lead with two unanswered goals over the first 13 minutes of the period, and left the Bulldogs looking up at a one goal deficit. The Bulldogs responded to tie the game in the final two minutes of the second as Devyn Fitzhenry scored a power play goal from Kaylyn Shroka. Despite Adrian putting 20 shots on goal to just eight from St. Olaf, the score remained tied at two heading into the third period.
The final period saw a quick start from Adrian as a St. Olaf tripping penalty led to another Fitzhenry power play goal from Shroka and Audrey Noles. This goal put the Bulldogs up for the next 10 minutes of play until Kelsey Kusch secured the victory from Fitzhenry and Danielle Smith with 6:54 left on the clock, and Adrian carried that lead to a 4-2 victory.
Brooke Gibson kept St. Olaf scoreless as she stopped all 10 shots she faced on the way to her second win of the season. Allie Carter saw her first action of the season as she played 32 minutes and made nine stops.
The Bulldogs will play next at home Friday, November 22 when St. Norbert's comes to Arrington Ice Arena for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
