ADRIAN, Mich.- The Bulldogs finished their weekend sweep of Marian (Wis.) in a come from behind 4-3 victory. This win puts Adrian at 3-1 on the season and 3-1 in the NCHA.
The game started off quickly as Devyn Fitzhenry scored her second of the year from Sydney Dobbin just three minutes into the game. This quick start quickly wa sreversed when the Sabres evened the score just three minutes later as they turned a Bulldog power play to their own benefit and scored shorthanded. The Sabres then struck again at the 9:22 mark of the first and took the lead 2-1 on a power play. These two goals were enough to put the Bulldogs at a disadvantage to start the second period. Adrian found their stride during this second as they scored three goals to take control of the game, 4-2. The first goal was scored by Hannah McGowan(1) at the 10:18 mark from Lexie Tzafaroglo and Lauren Turner to even the score. The Bulldogs then took the lead just two minutes later when Kelsey Kusch scored her third of the season on assists from Courtney Millar and Danielle Smith. The Bulldogs second period offensive surge was capped at the 5:33 mark when Danielle Smith scored her first of the season from Kusch and Fitzhenry. This goal put Adrian at a 4-2 advantage heading into the final period of play. Marian started the third period out quickly by scoring a goal just four minutes in which put the Sabres just one goal back with 15:42 left to play. The Bulldogs rallied and held the Marian scoreless for the remainder of the game, led by goaltender Jade Walsh who made 23 stops on her way to her third victory of the season.
The Bulldogs will play tomorrow, Sunday, November 10 at Buffalo St. in a nonconference matchup at 1 p.m.
