ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian College recorded eight blocked shots in its 2017-18 finale to set a school single-season record and almost made an amazing comeback, but visiting Alma College held on for a 51-49 win in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball play on Saturday afternoon.

= Junior Ashley Morris scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to spur the Bulldogs' comeback bid. She also had three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.
= Sophomore Angelina Goosby led all student-athletes with seven rebounds and she added six points, three steals and a block.
= Freshman Sha'Trice Graves came off the bench to swat three of the team's eight blocks and she brought down five rebounds in nine minutes of action.
= Emily Eldridge led Alma with 15 points, including 7-for-10 from the free throw line, and five rebounds.
= Madison Hill (6 points) and Madison Hill tied Goosby with a game-high three steals. Hill also dished a game-best five assists.
= Jeny Brandt scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
= Alma shot 58.9 percent from the field (10-17) while holding Adrian to 35.7 (5-14) to take a 23-12 lead after the first quarter.
= The Scots--who never trailed--eventually increased their lead to 23 points on two Hill free throws to make it 41-18 with 7 minutes and 37 seconds left in the third quarter.
= Adrian ended the third on a 12-4 run to close within 45-30. Junior Katie Crawford (6 points) and Morris combined for eight points to help breathe new life into the Bulldogs.
= Adrian slowly chipped away at the deficit in the fourth quarter, as Morris' layup made it 47-45 with 4:38 to go.
= But Alma responded with a pair of baskets by Brandt to up the lead to 51-45 at the 3:26 mark.
= After Goosby drained a couple free throws to make the score 51-49 with 36 seconds left, Alma turned the ball over to give Adrian another chance to tie the contest or go ahead.
= The Bulldogs, however, missed three shots down the stretch and Hill deflected an errant pass with 3 seconds remaining to help the Scots escape with the win.
= While field goals made were mostly even (Adrian 18-17), Alma had the edge at the free throw line making 14 of 19 attempts to 10-for-17 for the Bulldogs.
= Adrian worked the ball down low very well, outscoring Alma 30-18 in the paint.
= Alma's bench outscored Adrian by a 17-10 count.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian's eight blocks versus the Scots bring to 89 the total this season, breaking the previous school record of 86 set during the 2012-13 campaign.
= The teams split the season series, as the Bulldogs won 75-70 in Alma during the conference opener. Adrian has won 10 of the past 11 meetings to close on Alma in the all-time series, 53-46.
= Morris is Adrian's active career scoring leader with 583 points in 69 games played.
= Graves finished with 30 blocks on the season, averaging 1.7 for seventh place at the end of the MIAA regular season.
