FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College women's basketball guard Sadia Johnson, of Kalamazoo Central High School, has earned her first career Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week citation, the league announced on Monday.
Johnson averaged 20.5 points to lead the Bulldogs to wins over Lancaster Bible College, 83-79 on the road on Thursday, and MIAA opponent Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 69-46 at home on Saturday.
She shot 46.4 percent from the field (13-28) and made 5 of 11 from three-point range (.455) while also contributing 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
The biology major scored 16 of her career-high 26 points at LBC during the second half, as the Bulldogs overcame a 17-point deficit with 7 minutes and 51 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Against the SMC Belles, Johnson led all scorers again with 15 points. She added five assists and six rebounds--both career bests.
For the season, Johnson leads Adrian in scoring at 14.4 ppg which is seventh in the MIAA.
