ALBION, Mich. – Sophomore TraeVie Shelton grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and senior Rachael Walker scored a career-high 17 points in a 67-58 defeat at Albion College on Saturday afternoon. Adrian dropped to 4-13 overall and 3-6 in the MIAA.
Shelton finished the game with seven points on 3-of-6 shooting and also had two assists and two steals in her fifth start of the season. Walker connected on 7-of-14 from the field including 3-of-6 from behind the arc. Junior LaQwana Dockery scored 12 points in 23 minutes off the bench. Adrian shot 35.6 percent for the game which was right at their season average. Albion shot 41.2 percent and were hot in the first half going 12-of-23 including 4-of-7 from deep.
Brett deBear scored a game-high 23 points and was 12-of-12 at the foul line. Darian Payne recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The first half was very entertaining with six ties and eight lead changes. Albion broke a 28-28 tie with a 9-2 run over the last 3:22 of the half to lead 37-30 after 20 minutes.
Albion took their first double-digit lead at the 17:57 mark and held onto a comfortable lead until Dockery cut the lead to 51-48 with 5:41 left. The Britons responded with an 8-1 run to once again lead by double figures at 59-49 with 3:16 remaining. The Bulldogs never threatened after that dropping their fifth in a row.
