ALMA, Mich. – A pair of freshmen turned in their better performances of the season on Saturday in a 70-58 loss at Alma College. Adrian and Alma are now both 4-11 overall and 3-4 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.
Antoinea McElroy recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in just 21 minutes off the bench. McElroy did most of her damage at the free throw line going 8-of-10. Five of her 12 rebounds came on the offensive end. Amber McCullough set new career-bests in points (8) and rebounds (10) going 4-of-6 from the floor. She did foul out of the contest after playing 23 minutes.
Adrian struggled from the floor in the first half shooting 24.1 percent, which turned into their demise. The Scots led throughout and by as many as 19 points at the 7:07 mark of the second half. Alma led 34-20 at halftime, but Adrian did outscore Alma 38-36 in the second half. Four players were in double figures for Alma led by Bailey Gooding and Mary Schlicher with 11 points.
