HOLLAND, Mich. – The women's basketball team (4-10, 3-3) dropped a road game to undefeated Hope College (14-0, 6-0), 80-38, Wednesday night in a conference matchup.
Scoring points against Hope has been difficult for most teams as the Flying Dutch have now held six opponents, including Adrian tonight, to fewer than 40 total points.
The Bulldogs got better as the game went on. Adrian fell behind by 28 points at the half, 44-16. In the second half however, the Bulldogs were only outscored by 14 points, 36-22.
Percentage-wise, the teams shot similar in the first half with Adrian's field goal percentage at 31.6, while Hope's was at 32.4. The Bulldogs were better both at the free throw line and outside the arc than Hope during the first half, shooting 100 and 50 percent, respectively.
Adrian also held the edge in those categories in the second half as well, with 80 percent from the charity stripe and 50 percent from outside the arc.
Although, percentage-wise Adrian held a total edge in three-pointers (50-23.8) and foul shots (85.7-77.8), they could not match the Flying Dutch from the floor (26.5-40.3).
The team hopes to stay above .500 in conference play when they next visit Alma on Saturday, January 12th at 3 p.m.
