Bulldog Women to Host WBCA Pink Zone Game

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Women's Basketball team will be hosting the Third Annual Pink Zone game on Saturday, February 4th at 3:00 P.M. against Trine University. The game is hosted by the WBCA's "Pink Zone" initiative to benefit the Hickman Cancer Center to help patients offset the cost of medical expenses not covered by insurance.

At Adrian, a variety of activities will be taking place on game day to help raise money for the Pink Zone. These activities include a bake sale, silent auction, face painting, and pink hair spray by 110 Madison Ave. Salon. There will be a halftime performance by the dance team and a chance to win a visa gift card or a plane ticket.

The WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort designed to raise awareness for breast cancer, as well as raise funds for cancer research. Starting in 2007, last year the program had over 1,800 participants and to this day has raised over $4 million in its five year existence.

In the United States, breast cancer is expected to be newly diagnosed every three minutes, and a woman will die from breast cancer every 13 minutes. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for all women and the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 20 and 59.

Before the game, survivors will be recognized in the gym and are asked to please RSVP to Cindy Beaubien via phone or email. Cindy can be reached at (517) 264-3877 or cbeaubien@adrian.edu. Please come out to the Merillat Center on Saturday, February 4th to help support a great cause.
