GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After having a 19-14 lead at the 7:38 mark in the first half, the Adrian College women's basketball team could not hold off nationally ranked Calvin College today (Dec. 3) and lost by the score of 64-46. Adrian sophomore Senneca Scott led the Lady Bulldogs with a career-high 12 points to go along with team-high seven boards.

Down 9-2 at 15:10 in the first half, Adrian (1-4, 0-2 MIAA) mustered up a 13-5 run to take its first lead of the game. The run was topped off by sophomore Jayma Nihart finding Scott for a fast break layup. The Lady Bulldogs added four points courtesy of layups by sophomore LaQwana Dockery and freshman McCauley Mossner to give Adrian its largest lead of game up 19-14 with 7:38 remaining before half.  Mossner's field goal was her first of her collegiate career.

The Knights regrouped and finished the rest of the half with a 17-5 run to take a 31-24 lead at intermission and would never look back.

Following Scott on offense for Adrian was junior Nicole Boggs with nine points. Senior Jenn Headley added eight.

Calvin was led by Carissa Verkaik who recorded a double-double with game-highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds. Kelsey Irwin followed with nine.

The Knights out-rebounded the Bulldogs 38-26. From the floor Calvin shot 44.9% (22-for-49), while Adrian shot 38.3% (18-for-47).

Adrian is back in action next Wednesday as they face Albion at 8 p.m. inside Merillat Gymnasium.
