Men's Wrestling Embraces Test at Mount Union Invitational as Freshmen Gain Invaluable Experience

ALLIANCE, Ohio--The Adrian College men's wrestling squad placed 16 student-athletes at the Mount Union Invitational on Saturday at Peterson Field House. The event featured over 10 teams including NCAA Division II scholarship programs.

Sophomore Spencer Sillman and freshman Dylan Wellbaum won individual titles at 166 and 175 pounds in the freshman division to pace the Bulldogs, while reigning Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week junior Noah Nieman continued his strong start to the 2019-20 season by finishing in third place in a competitive 149-pound open division.

Freshman Isaac Ramirez is sixth after 13-1 major decision defeat to C.Stoddard from Belmont Abbey

T.Rector places fifth after 16-0 technical fall over D.Knotts of Urbana

Dylan Wellbaum is first with 18-3 technical fall over freshman teammate Clayton Boatright who is the runner-up

Freshman Kyle Emery is second place after pin defeat (4:24) at hands of C.Dixon from Urbana
Freshman Dominick Heverin takes third place with 2:56 pin over B.Hartsell also from Urbana

Junior Donald Moses places third with 1:16 pin against J.Ramage from Gannon
Junior Michael Jacobs earns fifth place with 2:53 pin over J.Romjue with Seton Hill

Sophomore Drew McCullough is the runner-up after losing via pin (2:08) to N.Baker from Urbana

Adrian hits the mat again next Saturday when it hosts the AC Bulldogs Duals at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
