ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's volleyball team fell to the country's top-ranked team, Carthage, in three sets on Saturday, March 30. The loss moves the Bulldogs to 3-4 in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play and outside the playoff picture with two matches to go.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Carthage took an early lead in the first set but wasn't able to pull away until later in the set, leading six at the most. Adrian would get one point back from that margin when the set was over, falling 25-20 to open the match.
Adrian tied the Red Men early in the second set and were within one point at 18-17 before Carthage got hot and won seven of the last eight points to take the second set 25-18.
It was all Red Men in the third set, starting things off with a 6-1 and then 7-2 lead. Adrian pulled within two but that was as close as it would get for the Black and Gold as Carthage went on a nine-point run to open a sound, 20-8 lead. Adrian won six more points but it wasn't enough as the Red Men cruised to a 25-14 victory in the set to take the match.
• Junior setter Joseph Campana finished with 22 assists.
• Junior Kevin Curley led the team with 10 digs while Campana finished right behind him with eight.
• Matt Slivinski and Evan Walsh were the only players with double digit kills, finishing with 17 and 15, respectively.
• Matt Reinsel had 42 assists.
• Blake Arnold had 14 digs and Reinsel picked up nine block assists.
Adrian finishes the regular season up next weekend with a pair of home matches. The Bulldogs welcome Greenville on Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m. and Fontbonne on Saturday at 1 p.m. Senior night will take place Friday night during the match with the Panthers. AC beat Greenville in three sets earlier this year in non-conference action.
