HOW IT HAPPENED
The contest was even through the opening minutes, with the Bulldogs posting the first shot on-goal of the day, off the foot of Brendan Koziol.
Spencer Brown posted his first-of-five saves as a corner kick made its way in front of the net, which was sent straight on-goal, stopped by the hand of Brown.
It took nearly 22 minutes before the nationally-ranked Knights recorded the eventual game-winner, capitalizing on an Adrian free-kick, finding the Bulldogs out of position.
Adrian's second scoring attempt of the day was again owned by Koziol. Who sent a strong shot up towards the crossbar, just deflected out by the goalkeeper's hand in the 28th minute.
Calvin increased its lead to two goals, with 15 minutes remaining in the opening half.
The Knights opened the second half with another strong scoring opportunity, as they had a player running up the field, almost unopposed for a one-on-one with the goalie, but a well-placed defender's foot set the shot whirling up and over the goal.
Adrian owned the last viable scoring opportunity as Grant Perrine put a hard shot on goal, after the ball was headed back to him by another Bulldog. Perrine's shot was stopped by a diving save.
- Senior Spencer Brown, playing in all 90 minutes, posting five saves.
- Classmate Brendan Koziol who lead the Bulldogs in shots and shots on-goal, with two in each of those categories.
Adrian remains at home, set to host Trine for a 7 p.m. MIAA contest on Tuesday.
