ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's hockey team is ranked No. 1 in the Minneapolis-based U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) poll for the third consecutive week and also occupies the top spot in the Bloomington, Minn.-based D3hockey.com national poll for the second time in a row. The Bulldogs received 16 first-place votes among 296 points from a USCHO.com panel of panel of coaches and hockey writers from across the country. According to a D3hockey.com vote of Sports Information Directors and media members nationwide, Adrian earned 291 points and 14 votes for first place.
Adrian enters the last weekend of the regular season with home dates against Northern Collegiate Hockey Association foes Milwaukee School of Engineering (Friday at 7:05 p.m.) and Concordia-Wisconsin (Saturday at 3:05 p.m.). The night contest versus MSOE will be Pink the Rink benefiting breast cancer research and the afternoon game against the Falcons will serve as Senior Day. Get tickets online!
The Bulldogs have already sewn up their third-straight NCHA South Division title and have the inside track for the top overall seed in the upcoming Harris Cup Playoffs. Adrian is 19-4 overall and 15-1 in the NCHA-South, owning the longest current winning streak in NCAA men's hockey at 11 games and the second-longest in all Divisions behind the D-I Clarkson women (15 games). The 11-game win streak is the longest for the program since the 2015-16 squad also went 11-straight from Nov. 28 to Jan. 22. Adrian has begun a new calendar year undefeated, untied for the first time since 2008-09 (17-0).
Senior captain Mathew Thompson leads the team with 25 points on 13 goals and 12 assists. Senior assistant Taylor McCloy (24 points) and junior Trevor Boyd (22 points) are tied for the team goal-scoring lead with 14. Junior defenseman Cory Dunn paces AC with 21 assists among 24 points. Junior goalie Kevin Entmaa has compiled a 12-2 won-lost record with 1.85 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.
