Adrian College Bulldogs Rise in National Polls

Nov. 30 National Polls: D3hockey.com / USCHO.com

ADRIAN, Mich.--After a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, the pollsters have taken notice as the Adrian College men's hockey team has risen three spots in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com national rankings released this afternoon.

In the USCHO.com poll, the Bulldogs (5-1-1 overall) go from No. 8 to fifth after edging then-No. 4 UWSP. Adrian received 224 points from a panel of NCAA Division III head coaches and select media members.

Freshman Trevor Boyd scored two goals, including the game-winner with 72 seconds left, in the final 3 minutes and 8 seconds, and classmate Kevin Entmaa had a career-high 33 saves in goal, to propel the Bulldogs past the Pointers.

Adrian tied fellow Northern Collegiate Hockey Association member St. Norbert for the biggest jump on the USCHO ladder, as the Green Knights received 254 points to move from No. 5 to No. 2. Babson is just ahead of Adrian in fourth with 236 points.

On the D3hockey.com side, Adrian also climbed three positions to No. 3 with 251 points. Norwich tied the Bulldogs for the biggest move upward, going from No. 5 to 8 with 211 points. St. Norbert tallied one first-place vote among 271 points for second. Adrian ties its highest D3hockey.com position as it was also No. 3 in the preseason rankings.

This poll is voted on by a panel of 20 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country.

Adrian brings an NCHA-South-leading 4-1-1 conference record into this weekend's NCHA series versus Finlandia at home at the Arrington Ice Arena. Friday's contest begins at 7 p.m., followed by Saturday's opening puckdrop at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs will travel to Rochester, N.Y., on Saturday, Dec. 12, to play Nazareth before taking Christmas vacation.

Plattsburgh State is No. 1 in both the men's and women's polls by both organizations.
