BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--The Adrian College men's hockey team is starting the 2015-16 season where it left off 2014-15 in the eyes of the national pollsters...ranked third. The Bulldogs received one first-place vote among 253 points to trail only defending NCAA Division III champion Trinity-Conn. (287 points, 14 1st place) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (265, 1) in the D3hockey.com Top 15 preseason poll, published on Wednesday.
Adrian returns 15 lettermen from last season's team that swept the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular season and Harris Cup tournament championships and posted a 24-3-3 overall record in Adam Krug's first season as head coach, en route to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship.
The Bulldogs are the highest-ranked NCHA team by the D3hockey.com national panel of 20 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members. St. Norbert is No. 6 with 180 points, Milwaukee School of Engineering--the Bulldogs opponent in their opening series this weekend--is in the "others receiving votes" category with 13 points, and followed by St. Scholastica (4 points) and Lake Forest (3).
The website devoted to national coverage of Division III hockey also featured Adrian prominently in its NCHA season preview. To read the story posted on Tuesday, please click here.
