WAUKESHA Wis.--Adrian College freshman goaltender Kevin Entmaa (Milton, Ontario/Caledonia Corvairs (GOJHL) has earned his first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Entmaa turned aside a career-high 33 saves--a single-game high this season by Adrian netminders--in the Bulldogs' 3-2 comeback win over then-No. 4/5 ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Entmaa had 17 saves alone in the opening period as the Pointers managed just a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes. UWSP could have easily scored three more goals, but Entmaa made two spectacular glove saves and a left pad stop from close range.
With Adrian trailing 2-1 late in the third period, he kept the Bulldogs within striking distance by stopping several more Pointer scoring opportunities. Classmate Trevor Boyd scored twice within a 3-minute, 8-second span in the final 4:20 of the game to secure the thrilling victory.
For the season, Entmaa is tied for the NCHA lead with a 1.000 win percentage (4-0 record), sixth with a 2.18 goals-against average and tied for sixth in save percentage (.923).
